The New Local Plan and Public Consultation
The timetable for public consultation runs from Monday 3rd February 2020 until Monday 23rd March 2020.
Exhibition events are being held in local venues on various times and on various dates during the consultation period. The timetable and location of these events can be found here.
The MVDC draft consultation “Future Mole Valley” is a 208 page document outlining the local authority plans for developments in the local area for the next 13 years. A full PDF copy can be found by clicking on this link.
This can be downloaded or viewed online.
There are various ways you can respond to this document.
- Online through the consultation survey.
- Uploading your responses to the consultation as a file.
- Downloading PDF or Word response forms, completing them and sending back to MVDC.
The index for this 208 page document runs to six A4 pages, so it is quite comprehensive, but there are a lot of areas you will probably not have any views on and will not wish to comment on.
To elaborate on the various options open to you, these are my thoughts and hopefully helpful suggestions to help you complete your response.
The Online Survey
If you go through the online survey responses you will have to be prepared to re-visit the site a number of times in order to complete the survey, unless you have a lot of time on your hands. It does not present you with your previous responses and so you will have to presume that if you saved them on your last visit they are still there, it’s just that you cannot access them and so it looks as if you have to begin again but that is not the case, just start from where you left off on your last visit.
Uploading Your Responses to the Consultation as a File
This is probably the easiest way to respond to the consultation, you can prepare your responses in advance and then just simply upload the file. The only concern I have about this approach is that you are relying on someone ‘translating’ your comments into coherent responses to the questionnaire and no matter how diligent they may be the translation may not be what you intended. You could use the index at the beginning of the consultation document as a guide to order you response which would overcome this problem.
Downloading PDF or Word Response Forms, Completing Them and Sending Back to MVDC.
You can download .pdf or Word format response forms from here:
https://futuremolevalley.org/consultation/
Unfortunately the form is generic in the sense that it provides you with separate pages for your response to the different sections of the consultation but gives you no clue as to what those sections are and so you can only complete these forms if you have access to the consultation document. The forms, once completed can be either printed off and posted to MVDC or emailed to them; both addresses are on the page directed to by the link above.
