Dear Sir,
I would like to object to the above referenced planning application on the following grounds;
- There is no evidence that Dorking needs 300 extra school places.
- The proposed plans add 1 parking space but the school intends to recruit 20 new staff. Off-site parking for staff and sixth form students is already a problem for local residents.
- The now disproved effect of the change to the school’s admission policy. September 2019 intake of 107 pupils is 73 less than their planned admission number making the school heavily undersubscribed given they are already 20% below capacity.
- The lack of any measures to counteract traffic problems beyond the junction of Nower Road and Hampstead Lane. The increased traffic will converge on the junction of Coldharbour Lane and Hampstead Lane and yet no measures have been suggested to cope with this.
- The lack of account taken of the wider traffic implications for Dorking.
- The lack of any consideration for the increased ‘service’ vehicles to support the proposed expansion. Although the Traffic Management Plan recognises that school drop off and pick up times are crucial in this study it makes no mention of the increased service vehicles for maintenance and delivery that this expansion will involve.
- The estimate of 130 students in the 6th Form is inaccurate and should not be used in the calculations. The actual figures are much lower; this year there are 50 students in total.
In the light of the points I have raised above I strongly urge you to refuse this application..
Yours faithfully,
