Whatever your views on the debates that are raging at the moment regarding the government's response to the Covid-19 virus, it is worth stepping back and taking a moment to reflect on the reality of the situation as it affects us personally. Undoubtedly the big picture looks pretty bleak but especially, so it seems, for the elderly. The age profile of the residents of West Bank is skewed towards this category, many of whom will choose to self isolate in order to try and keep safe.
It is very easy to assume that all of our neighbours are being cared for by relatives and friends and they have access to food and provisions through this route. Yesterday we experienced why this is not always the case with one of our elderly residents being taken to hospital in an ambulance having been found in her own home in a very confused condition, as far as we know not Covid-19 related. It was only the prompt action of her neighbours that prevented her from being left unattended, seriously ill and locked in her own home.
Can we please urge you all to contact your neighbours to find out if they are OK and if they need anything to help them through this difficult time.
Below you will find links to a list of residents contact details (which also is included on the last page of the annual newsletter) for you to refer to and also a contact form if no phone number is listed. Please use them if you can help in any way.

For anyone who is in need of groceries and provisions, residents have 2 delivery slots booked with Tesco's for home delivery next week, one on Tuesday 31st March and one on Thursday 2nd April. If anyone would like groceries addedd to these orders please email us with requirements and which slot you would like to use. We cannot guarantee that the items you require will be in stock but it's worth trying especially if it saves having to make a trip to the shops.
There are a number of local shops arranging for home delivery at the moment:
The Dorking Butchery in collaboration with The Dorking Deli, The Vineyard, Cobbett’s and Rockhill Brothers will be delivering fresh meat, vegetables, wine, beer and coffee. Although I notice this morning that due to staff shortages and the number of orders they are having to process they aren't taking any more orders until further notice.
Some very kind residents have got together to offer help to anyone that needs it;
Hello
We are aware that not everyone on the road is on email so thought we would drop this round to everyone to share.
