Community Hub

The Community Hub helpline, run by Wandsworth Council, can signpost you to the latest information and government advice, as well as other services the council can provide. It is working to help coordinate the support offered by the Council working in partnership with Wandsworth’s many voluntary organisations.

The COVID-19 Discretionary Social Fund is open to households who, due to the current COVID-19 situation, have had their employment or income reduced and are now reliant on claiming Universal Credit.  Citizens Advice Wandsworth (CAW) have launched a service providing support to residents who need help accessing local Discretionary Support Grants.   It is aimed at people who struggle with making online applications. Contact CAW advisers by calling 020 4529 0674 between 10am–12pm, Mon-Fri (messages can be left during these times).You can find out more about the Council discretionary support grants scheme here

Help for those identified by the NHS as being clinically extremely vulnerable because they have a very specific medical condition that makes them at higher risk of severe illness if they contract COVID-19. If you are in this category, the Government has now published updated guidance which you are advised to follow during the lockdown period, Thursday 5 November to Wednesday 2 December 2020. You should receive a letter from the NHS in the coming days to confirm that you are still in this category and more details about the guidance. If you do not receive a letter but believe you are clinically extremely vulnerable, please contact your GP or hospital consultant for further advice.

 

VOLUNTEERING

NHS Volunteer Responders: volunteer recruitment now open across England

In response to the lockdown that began on 5 November and because demand for the volunteers’ support continues to rise recruitment has opened again for NHS Volunteer Responders. Anyone who signed up as an NHS Volunteer Responder in March but has had to step down due to other commitments is being encouraged to re-join the programme and give as much time as they can.
