Wandsworth Council and NHS Wandsworth Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) has increased funding for Wandsworth Care Alliance from £60,000 to £180,000 to offer more support to local voluntary organisations.

Wandsworth care Alliance will help to develop the resilience of the voluntary and community sector in Wandsworth to ensure its sustainability and growth. It will continue the work undertaken by the Voluntary Sector Coordination Project, including quarterly Forum meetings and a monthly e-bulletin, but widen this through support for organisations wanting to take the next step in their development, alongside a training programme. 

This new service will develop and support the voluntary and community sector in the borough as detailed in the new, recently published Wandsworth Health and Care Plan.

Wandsworth Council Chair of the Health and Wellbeing Board Cllr Melanie Hampton said: “This award recognises the value of our local voluntary sector working in the local community. We have increased funding to ensure children’s services are included in this expansion to boost capacity. We look forward to developing greater collaboration with our council services and the voluntary sector and helping organisations to build on their strengths to create a sustainable future.”

Chief Executive of the Wandsworth Care Alliance Jason Edgington said: “This new service will ensure the voluntary and community sector across Wandsworth can work closer together for the benefit of Wandsworth residents. We welcome the award which is a major step forward for the voluntary sector in supporting the priorities of the new Health and Care Plan and will help us all progress these working in partnership. This will create a more coordinated and connected third sector.”

CCG Chair and Chair of Wandsworth Health and Care Board Dr Nicola Jones said ‘We look forward to working with Wandsworth Care Alliance and building on the excellent work they have already done with the current service. We have worked with the voluntary sector to develop this service to support, shared understanding enabling us to draw on their expertise and their ability to ensure delivery of high-quality patient-centred care.”
