About Us
The Egham Band are a friendly brass band based in Egham with a history stretching back to over 100 years. We have strong links with the local community and annually take part in the St George's Day and Remembrance Day Parades and Services, plus appear at local carnivals and events. We also give regular concerts, for example in last October in the Magna Carta Theatre, to commemorate the Battle of Britain. We have also performed concerts with well known soloists including James Fountain, Owen Farr and Roger Webster.
In 2010 we qualified to represent the region at the First Section National Finals in Harrogate. In January 2013 we were promoted to the top Championship Section in the London and Southern Counties Region for the first time in our 117-year history. From January 2015, The Egham Band returned to more familiar territory and has competed in the First Section for the regional competition for the past 2 years. We often travel further afield to take part in The Whit Friday Marches and Bugle contest in Cornwall .
The band has a strong youth policy with a 20 strong Youth Band of children between 10 and 16. Formed in September 2010 the band has been a great success performing both with the senior band and giving concerts on their own. A new Training Band for children from Year 4 of primary school age and with some very basic musical knowledge commenced in Spring 2016.
