January - December

Group

  • We had a very loud trip through the Blackpool Illuminations and had a sing-song on the bus
  • We had a good turnout for our Maintenance Day
  • Our members took part in the Kirkham Club Day walk
  • A very enjoyable, fun and challenging time was had by all at our Group Family Camp at Waddecar, near Beacon Fell, from Friday 24 to Monday 27 May
  • We had a good attendance for the St George's Day afternoon at District HQ, St Annes

Beavers

  • New leaders, Emma and Claire, officially joined our Group and were presented with their 2nd Kirkham neckers
  • Had an interesting evening with a visitor from the Royal Air Force
  • Had an exciting time at Wesham Fire Station hosing everywhere down
  • Hiked around Beacon Fell on the Fylde District's Jamboree On The Trail (JOTT) event
  • Most had a good Hut Camp at our hut
  • Made bug houses
  • Had a visit by a Paramedic
  • Celebrated St David's Day
  • Visited a Hindu Temple
  • Enjoyed an action-packed Joint Beaver - Cub Winter Camp at District HQ, St Annes

Cubs

  • Had an action-packed 'Neverest' District Cub/Scout weekend camp at District HQ, St Annes
  • Went kayaking on the Lancaster Canal
  • Had a great Camp at Mowbreck in dry weather and had the site to themselves
  • Have started the Environmental Conservation and the Gardener activity badges
  • Completed the Astronomer Badge
  • Increased their Disability Awareness
  • Sang their hearts out at our Campfire and Sketches evening
  • Enjoyed an action-packed Joint Beaver - Cub Winter Camp at District HQ, St Annes

Scouts

  • We had an adventurous Older Scouts Weekend in the Lake District, staying at Great Tower Scout Activity Centre
  • Had an action-packed 'Neverest' District Cub/Scout weekend camp at District HQ, St Annes
  • Had a full fun-packed short break (4 nights / 5 days) of activity and adventure on the Isle of Man
  • Went kayaking on the Lancaster Canal
  • Slept over at the hut after the Maintenance Day
  • Did cycle maintenance prior to a cycle ride to Bonds
  • Practised camp skills
  • Held a First Aid evening
  • Younger Scouts enjoyed a District Camp
  • A team practised for, and competed in, the Bowlander hiking competition
  • Held a Survival Skills night
  • Undertook a pioneering challenge
  • Held a 'Christmas' camp

August - December

Group

  • Attended the Christingle at St Michael's church
  • Leaders and Helpers enjoyed a WHAM Christmas Party Night at Dahlias Kitchen
  • The Group had a large attendance at the Remembrance Day Service in Kirkham
  • We had a noisy Blackpool Illuminations trip in a Heritage Tram, organised by Martin and Paul
  • On 1st August Paul Jackson took over the role of Group Scout Leader from Kevin Jacomb who becomes Group Scouter

Beavers

  • Had a valuable First Aid evening for which they earned a certificate
  • Tried their hand at knots
  • Worked on the Scientist badge
  • Enjoyed a Halloween puppet show
  • Had a night hike
  • Held a Family Night

Cubs

  • Practised tent pitching
  • Worked on the Scientist, and Artist badge
  • Made bird/bat boxes
  • 10 Younger Cubs gained the Chef's badge at a camp at our hut
  • Older Cubs attended an Older Cub-Scout Survival camp
  • Attended the District Carol Service in Lytham

Scouts

  • Had a Ready Steady Cook evening
  • Enjoyed a Food and Fire night
  • Held a Woodcraft meeting
  • Worked on the Quartermaster badge
  • Attended an Older Cub-Scout Survival camp
  • Attended Crew ChallengeADid climbing and archery at District HQ, St Annes
  • 2 Leaders and 2 Scouts attended the International Red Rose camp

April - July

Group

  • We had a large attendance at the District St George's Day event at St Annes
  • We took part in Kirkham's Club Day walk
  • Held a Maintenance Day to tidy up our grounds

Beavers

  • Enjoyed the District-run Jamboree On The Trail (JOTT) event at Beacon Fell
  • Visited the lifeboat centre at St Annes
  • Enjoyed the District sleepover at the District HQ in St Annes
  • Did the Experiment badge
  • Went climbing and shooting at the District HQ in St Annes

Cubs

  • Worked on the Local Knowledge, Communicator, and Backwoods Cooking badges
  • Kayaked on the Lancaster canal
  • Were the largest Group at the action-packed District Cub Adventure Camp in St Annes

Scouts

  • Kayaked on the Lancaster canal
  • Held a night hike
  • Had a First Aid evening
  • Attended the County Bowlander camp
  • Had a hammock camp at Mowbreck campsite

January - March

Group

  • Brilliant news for 2nd Kirkham - 3 Scouts and Young Leaders have been selected as 3 of the 4 successful candidates who will attend the 24th World Scout Jamboree in 2019 in West Virginia, USA.
  • Enjoyed a joint Beaver/Cub Winter Camp at DHQ, St Annes alongside a Scout Camp

Beavers

  • Visited Pets at Home
  • Had an accessibility survey walk

Cubs

  • Had a brilliant visit to BAE Systems
  • Completed the Hobbies, and Pioneering badges
  • One Cub came 4th in the District Chess Competition and will now represent Fylde District at the County Chess Competition

Scouts

  • Had a training weekend for the County 'Bowlander' navigation competition
  • Enjoyed an electrical LED modelling evening
