About Us

Our History and Policies

The Road to the Isles Facilities Group is a two-tier SCIO, registered as a Scottish Charity (SCO48758). The organisation was established in 2018 as a partnership between the Community Councils of Mallaig, Morar, and Arisaig and District, and Mallaig and Morar Community Centre to respond to local concerns about the impact of tourism throughout the area.

Membership of the SCIO is available to anyone over the age of 16 who lives within the catchment area of the Mallaig, Morar and Arisaig and District Community Councils. The trustees of the SCIO are drawn from this membership. It's free to become a member, and you can download a form here.

Our First two projects were to build toilet facilties in Mallaig and at Traigh beach. Since then, we have created a new playpark at Loch Nevis Crescent in Mallaig; taken ownership of the car park and toilet block at Silver Sands Morar, and undertaken a series of improvements to other local facilities over the winter of 2023/24. You can find out more about each of these projects on the 'Projects' page.

Below we have published some of our policies and procedures.
