Llanfair Rhyd depicts the upper terminus of a “Ffestiniog” style narrow gauge railwayin North Wales. The timeframe has been chosen to be fairly loose to allow running as if a preserved railway as well as in late Victorian times. The layout had been designed to run as DC or DCC, however now runs always as DCC with sound fitted locomotives. The track plan has been designed to allow to connect, as a module, with other Freem009 layouts and has appeared several times in this format. The layout is free standing with lighting.
