Mytchett Lake is a pictureque lake of around 15 acres on the Surrey/Hants border providing coarse fishing for roach, rudd, bream, tench, carp, perch and pike. Water depth varies between 15 feet in the deepest section on the west, to around 3 feet at the north eastern corner.
The lake is owned by the MOD, on MOD land with public access. Fishing is allowed from the north and north east banks for civilians and from the south east bank, adjacent to the Keogh Barracks, for members of the armed forces. The lake merges with the Basingstoke Canal on the west side.
Fishing is available through annual membership or by day ticket. Members of the armed forces must have a valid annual membership permit to fish the lake. See the Membership page for all details.
There is no on site parking. Limited roadside parking is available by the lake on Mytchett Lake Road and parking is available in an allocated section of the Keogh Barracks car park close by.
The lake adheres to the Environment Agency close season, so there is strictly no fishing allowed between 15th March and 15th June inclusive.
Fishing is from the bankside or from purpose built platforms that extend into the lake.
