In 2025, the Friends of Ludlow Nature Reserve Group joined forces with the local community and key partners to transform the Ludlow Nature Reserve.

The 2025 Community Action Story

The year was marked by a major push for nature recovery and site improvement. On February 25, 2025, a community planting day saw residents, Nabeela Mulbocus the Park Project Manager from London Borough of Hounslow, our local councillors Farah Kamran and Bishnu Gurung, and the Lampton Services Countryside Team come together to begin a significant reforestation effort.

  • Tree Planting: The project was facilitated by environmental experts from Country Side Team & Maydencroft, who provided the necessary guidance and equipment. While the initial session saw 15 trees planted, the collective goal for the year involved establishing over 80 trees to bolster the site's biodiversity.
  • Site Restoration: Beyond planting, volunteers engaged in intensive bramble clearance to keep pathways safe and open.
  • Maintenance: A litter picking event was organised by the Friends group to ensure Ludlow Nature Reserve remained a clean, welcoming environment for both wildlife and people.
  • Infrastructure Progress: By March 2025, the subbase for a new perimeter pathway was finished, and progress was made on a new boardwalk, with full project completion targeted for Autumn 2025.
