Friends of Ludlow Nature Reserve
Working together to care for our local green space
Who We Are
Friends of Ludlow Nature Reserve was established in 2017 by local residents who wanted to ensure the park remained a safe, welcoming, and thriving green space for everyone.
We work closely with volunteers and the wider community to protect, maintain, and celebrate the nature reserve.
What We Do
Our volunteers generously give their time to:
- Litter picking and general park care
- Vegetation clearance to keep paths open and the park safe
- Reporting and discouraging anti-social behaviour
- Supporting improvements that enhance wildlife, biodiversity, and community enjoyment
Our Improvements So Far
Thanks to community support and funding awarded in 2020, several major improvements have been made:
- A new pathway around the boundaries of the open space, extending into the woodlands
- A new boardwalk in the woodland area
- Installation of swales to reduce marshy ground and create new wetland wildlife habitats
- A wildflower meadow to boost biodiversity
- Three new benches placed in ideal viewing/relaxation points
- Two rustic benches donated by Maydencroft, the park’s contractors
These upgrades have already made the reserve more accessible, enjoyable, and ecologically valuable.
What’s Next – Phase Two
We are currently seeking more funding to begin Phase Two of our concept plan, which includes:
- A new pathway around the boundaries of the large woodland area
- Continued habitat improvements
- Additional features that enhance accessibility and environmental value
Your support helps make these improvements possible.
