Our Christmas Exhibition will be available to view towards the end of November.
The Heritage Centre will be open during the Longridge Does Christmas event on the evening of Thursday 27 th November with our normal range of merchandise, a model railway and a chance to win with our tombola.
November 2025
As customary at this time of year, our November exhibition will be on the theme of Remembrance, commemorating the local people who sadly died in World War 1, World War 2 and subsequent conflicts.
We also highlight the work of the Royal British Legion whose Longridge Branch has recently been re-established with additional displays on the role of animals in war.and how the nation remembers.
September 2025
Our main event for September is the Heritage Open Day on Saturday 20th September from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Come and join us to celebrate the Heritage Open Days 2025 theme of architecture. Our display will explore buildings of special architectural and historical interest in the Longridge Conservation Areas.
Learn about the history of the Longridge Co-Operative Industrial Society store which contributed to cultural life in Longridge with its reading room, library and concert hall.
Discover the story of the twenty inns and alehouses built to serve the farmers, quarry workers and mill hands of Longridge.
Step back in time with a look at the former cinema which started life as a weaving shed in the 1860s before transforming into a music hall, roller skating rink, cinema, and bingo hall.
Enjoy a multi-media display of photographs of buildings and structures included in the Longridge blue plaque scheme.
Our children’s craft activities will have an architectural theme.

Our corridor display for September and October is the updated railway exhibition consisting of twenty display boards, detailing the history of the Longridge to Preston Railway which ran for some 125 years before final closure in 1968.
August 2025
Our display for August will be covering all that can be found in a 'Lancashire Summer' This display highlights the resorts, attractions and activities that drew the crowds to the seaside in the past and still do today. We also cover the tradition of 'Wakes Weeks' and the various seaside piers that have been (and gone) over the years.
We are also making preparations for the annual Heritage Open Day, a national event being held this year on Saturday 20th Septenber. The theme this year being 'Architecture' and we will be open on the Saturday with a special exhibition.
June/July 2025
Our display for June and July will be covering the Goosnargh and Longridge Agricultural Show, being held this year on the 5th July
These shows have been held for many years and our display will highlight how the events have changed and evolved.

Discounted adult tickets are available from the Heritage Centre until the end of June, at a cost of £8 each (£10 on the day), with child tickets at £5 each.
April/May 2025
Our display on the Longridge Railway is now available to view along with a display on the 200th anniversary of the UK rail network.
We have been contacted by Mike Norris, a local author who has produced a detailed book on the Longridge railway and its operation. We hold a reference copy of the book and it is available to purchase directly from the Author via the contact details below.
Our next display in May will be on VE day and we are asking for anyone with memories of the day to get in touch.
February 2025
Our programme of displays for the next few months has been decided and we will commence with a display looking at 'Ladies of Longridge' This will highlight people who have all, in their own way, made a distinct contribution to Longridge life. This will be available to view until the end of March.
This will be followed by an updated display on the Longridge Railway and then a special display commerorating the 80th anniversary of VE day, highlighting Longridge individuals' contribution to the war effort.
December 2024
Our Christmas display is now available to view until the end of the month. We have received the first prints of our new book 'Longridge in Pictures - The Victorian & Edwardian years' which is now available to purchase at a price of £5. The book contains 50 photographs of Longridge and other local scenes with explanatory text and would make an ideal stocking filler!
Please note that the Heritage Centre will be closed from 14:00 on Friday 20th December, re-opening on Monday 6th January 2025 at 10:00.

November 2024
Our Remembrance display is now available to view until the last week in November. This display concentrates on local individuals and their stories and awards during World War II.
During this period we will also have a range of military history books for sale, with proceeds going towards the Poppy Appeal.
October 2024
After a successful Heritage Open Day in September, we will be keeping the Railway exhibition up until the end of the Month.
Our next project is a display on local people's involvement in the multiple wars and conflicts of the last 150 years.
This is currently being prepared and will be on display in early November to support the local Remembrance Day activities.
August 2024
Longridge Heritage Centre will be joining in the annual Heritage Open Days event in September, with displays illustrating the national theme of ‘Routes – Networks – Connections’.
The event is held on Saturday 7th September from 10 till 4 and we will have a new full display on the Longridge to Preston Railway, exhibits on the development of transport routes and industry in the town and a (somewhat unsuccessful) hot air balloon ascent in the 1840's.
We will also have a model railway, children's activities and our usual selection of merchandise for sale, all profits going towards the running of the centre.

July 2024
Preparations are well underway for our stand at the Goosnargh and Longridge Agricultural Show on Saturday 6th July.
Our stand can be seen in the Community marquee alongside other local volunteer groups and organisations. We will have a variety of exhibits to see and merchandise for sale, the profits from this being used to support our activities and displays.
Please come along and see us on Saturday.
To coincide with the Show, we have produced a new display on Farming and Agriculture in the area, which is available to view at the Heritage Centre until mid July, when it is being raplaced with an exhibition on 'Summer in Lancashire'.
Our next major event will be the Heritage Open Days in September and we will publish details of this in our August news.
May/June 2024
We have prepared our next corridor display, which will be on the various historical and current Parades and Processions around Longridge
This will be available to view from Mid May until the end of June.
We are also beginning to prepare for the Goosnargh and Longridge Agricultural Show on the 6th July where we will have a stand.
In addition, there are plans to open on some Saturday morning during the summer, more details to come.
April 2024
We are preparing for our next corridor display, which will be on the history of quarrying in Longridge and the buildings that were constructed using Longridge sandstone.
This will be available to view at the end of April for around 5 weeks.
