Chairman’s Report
Planning
The year was dominated by CML Microsystems’ planning application for 146 dwellings at Oval Park and the subsequent campaign, public meetings and responses to the planning department of Maldon District Council. District councillors refused permission on several grounds but the application was subsequently taken to appeal. The public inquiry is to be held 18th – 21st June 2013.
Langford News
The Parish Council has put forward a new proposal to the Local Highways Panel for a 30mph speed limit through Langford.
Langford Parish boundary change is progressing slowly. Residents of Langford will be asked to sign a petition supporting the proposal.
Community shop at St. Giles Church is now open every day from 10am – 12 noon. Please use the shop or we will end up losing it.
Ulting News
The new churchyard gate donated by Mr Austin in memory of his late wife, was installed and some renovation work carried out to the fence.
Finger post was repaired with a replacement finger indicating the direction of the church.
Broadband speed within parts of the parish continues to be an issue and residents were all encouraged to register the fact at www.superfastessex.org.
Neighbourhood Plan
Maldon District Council had acknowledged the Parish Council’s intention to produce the plan. Those residents who had completed the Community Information Form were thanked.
Newsletter
The summer newsletter will be the last one in the current form as the Parish Council has not found a new sponsor.
Village Hall
There has been a change of scenery at the village hall as recent inspections carried out on the two large lime trees revealed extensive disease throughout. Both had to be felled for safety reasons.
It was noted that all Parish Council meetings are open to the public and everyone is most welcome to attend. Dates are on the village noticeboards and the Parish Council website.
