AUTUMN SHOW
Coming into the hall from a rather grey, damp day visitors were welcomed to a blaze of colour from
the display of dahlias, chrysanthemums and many other colourful exhibits. The vegetable classes
were very well supported with some magnificent specimens on display. David Ridgeway won the
cup for most points in all shows this year as well as cups for the most points in fruit and vegetable
classes in the last two shows. Chris Gray won the RHS Banksian Medal for most points in
horticultural classes through the year as well as the Three Vase Championship for Dahlias. Mary
Redding won two trophies for her Floral Art, Nora Wier and Dawne Lemon shared the novice
flower classes. Dawne Lemon also won a trophy for Novice Vegetables.Oliver Shefford won the
children's cup for most points in his class through the year.Douglas Ball retained the Ron Miller
Potato cup, Graham Talbot won Best in Show, the Tilbury Cup for most points in flower classes this
show, the Greenway Dahlia Cup and the Master Class. John Marshall took the trophy for the most
points in the show in Chrysanthemum classes and was awarded the National Chrysanthemum
Certificate for his entry in the three vase championship. Mick Penn was awarded the National
Vegetable Society's medal for the most meritorious vegetable exhibit in the show.
