Hampton Hill Community Choir (HHCC) is just what it says on the tin!
- We sing in Hampton Hill.
- We are a community that is also a choir. (And if you're a solitary type, you are also welcome.)
- We have no auditions.
- We are open to all - however....
To avoid growing to a size where the choir starts to feel impersonal, we have limited the maximum size of our choir to around 30. As of May 2025 we have a waiting list for vacancies in each of the voice parts: soprano, alto and baritone.
The music ranges from medieval to modern and from serious to silly. Since January 2023, we have had the privilege of having a pianist (Susan Humphris) accompany us at every rehearsal, with Fiz Markham as our Musical Director.
November 2025
We are working hard towards our Christmas concert on Thursday 4th December at 8pm. No entrance fee, but a donation at the end will be much appreciated. Cash remains the easiest method. Cash is also useful for your donations for tea, coffee, cake and wine. We will be holding a raffle too.
If you are interested in joining us as a singer, please contact Fiz Markham on fizmarkham@gmail.com beforehand. We are happy to invite prospective singers to a rehearsal. Afterwards, if we have a vacancy and the prospective singer likes the choir, they will be invited to join. If we have no suitable vacancy, then we will add the singer to our waiting list.
A normal rehearsal
People arrive from 720ish for a 730 start. We rehearse until about 830 when we have a break to drink tea/coffee and scoff lovely CAKE provided by a singer who loves to bake. We resume after 20 minutes - normally requiring quite a bit of nagging as folk love to chat - and finish at 930, but sometimes extend to 945 if we have something to complete.
Thinking you can't sing is no excuse. Warm-ups pay attention to singing healthily and well. Soon you'll realise you CAN sing! AND singing releases endorphins - something we can all benefit from.
