Glimpses of Galleywood

The booklet Glimpses of Galleywood was first published by the Parochial Church Council in 1973 and gave a short history of the village, centred around the church as the publication coincided with the 100th anniversary of its opening.  A second edition taking the story forward was published by the Parish Council in 1993.

A third edition (2023) has now been published by the Society which extends the coverage even further timewise, including a chapter by the late David Stacy our former President and also a piece marking the 150th anniversary of the opening of St. Michaels Church.  Publication also serves to commemorate the passing of Graham Smith and Ken Edwards who worked on the third edition.

Copies of the 3rd edition can be purchased for £6.50 from the committee or from the Galleywood Heritage Centre.  

Annual General Meeting and Talk

Before the talk on 9th November 2023 there was a short AGM.  The annual report and accounts were agreed and the existing committee and independent examiner re-elected.  This was followed by a talk by Alan Pamphilon on My Blue Plaque Challenge.
