Friends of Rising Sun Country Park

The Red Stag was a much‑loved resident of Rising Sun Country Park for many years. Appearing mysteriously in the summer of 2008, no one ever discovered where he came from or how he found his way into the park — but he quickly became a familiar and cherished sight for visitors.

He lived quietly among the fields and woodlands until late spring or early summer of 2023, when his passing proved just as mysterious as his arrival. His presence left a lasting impression on all who encountered him, and he remains a fond part of the park’s recent history.
