The Friends of Rising Sun Country Park reformed as a group in 2016 and became a constituted community group in 2017.
Regular volunteer days are held on Thursday mornings, when various agreed work tasks are completed in the centregrounds or in the wider park under the supervision of the parks officer. The Friends also look after 'The Backyard'; a small allotment at the rear of the Tim Lamb Centre. This area is not open to the public, but produce grown is used by the cafe or shared with park users.

A monthly community litterpick is run by the Friends on the last Monday each month, and regular Nature Discovery & Wellbeing walks are run joinly with the Outdoor Education Wardens on the third Thursday each month. See 'Events' page for further details.
