We are a dedicated community volunteer group working closely with North Tyneside Council’s Park team to keep Rising Sun Country Park a welcoming, safe and vibrant place for its visitors and its wildlife.
What we do:
Park Maintenance and Conservation Efforts – We collaborate with North Tyneside Council’s Rising Sun Park Team to help keep the park clean, safe, and beautiful, by participating in weekly volunteer sessions held at the park on Thursday mornings, and a Friend’s led community litter-pick which is held monthly.
Community Engagement – We help the park team to host events, educational activities such as nature walks and promote volunteer opportunities to encourage public involvement.
Biodiversity & Environmental Efforts – We support wildlife habitats through tree and bulb planting, engage in a variety of citizen science projects and record wildlife sightings around the park.
Recognising and researching the Park’s heritage – We celebrate the parks rich and varied history and frequently sharing its story through regular posts on our social media platforms.
