Friends of Rising Sun Country Park
We are a dedicated community volunteer group working closely with North Tyneside Council’s Park Team to help keep Rising Sun Country Park a welcoming, safe and vibrant place for its visitors and its wildlife.
What We Do
Park Maintenance & Conservation
We work alongside the Rising Sun Park Team to help maintain and enhance the park. Our activities include:
- Participation in North Tyneside Council’s weekly volunteer sessions - Thursday morning’s 10am until 12.
- A Friends-led community litter pick held once a month.
Together, we help keep the park clean, safe and beautiful for everyone.
Community Engagement
We support the park team in hosting events and educational activities such as guided nature walks. We also promote volunteering opportunities to encourage more people to get involved in caring for the park.
Biodiversity & Environmental Projects
We help protect and improve wildlife habitats through:
- Tree and bulb planting
- Citizen science projects
- Recording wildlife sightings around the park.
Our aim is to support biodiversity and deepen understanding of the natural environment.
Celebrating the Park’s Heritage
Rising Sun Country Park has a rich and varied history. We research and share stories from the park’s past through regular posts on our social media platforms, helping to keep its heritage alive.
