The committee of EKCE is currently made up of a cross-section of the community of Elie & Earlsferry. It includes both full and part-time residents, members who were born and brought up here, those with a long family heritage in the area, and more recent arrivals who have fallen in love with the village. They all have in common a deep appreciation of the importance of Elie Kirk to the community, and a wish to keep its role as the heart of the village, both physically and spiritually.

Derek A Farmer

Born and raised locally, Derek emigrated to Canada in 1970, before returning to Fife in 2010 following a long career in international banking and finance. Derek contributes his valuable knowledge and extensive experience of financial matters to the committee.

Keith Dewhurst

Keith is a part-time resident of Elie & Earlsferry with a keen interest in the historic environment. He currently works as a civil engineer on historic buildings and also brings experience of other community projects he has been involved with. He looks forward to seeing the Church continue and further develop its role as a thriving community meeting space.

Nicky Nicholson

A full time Elie resident, Nicky has known this village and the church building since the late 1950s when she first visited her grandmother’s best friend in the house where she now lives. With professional experience as a Chartered Surveyor and Planning advisor, along with a keen interest and active involvement in local music, she is well placed to offer her skills and experience to the committee.  While changes in society require the church building to find a new role, she, as one of the many people who have come back to a place long loved, believes it to be of the utmost importance to keep the church for our community.

Alastair Graham

Alastair has lived in Elie & Earlsferry for forty years and during that time has been active in various local community groups.

He has many years experience as an Architect, and is therefore able to offer a range of valuable skills, experience and support to the project to procure and maintain Elie Kirk for various community uses, ensuring it has an important role to play in the future. Alastair is currently the Chairperson for EKCE.

Jane Thomson Sqn Ldr (Rtd)

Brought up in Elie, Jane has lived in Elie with her husband and family nearly all her life. Historically, several generations of her family were born, brought up, worked in the village, and are buried in the Elie Church graveyard. Jane appreciates the importance of developing the Church into an accessible centre for local families and visitors to pop in to, which is situated in the heart of the village.

Judith Drever

A full time resident in the village for the last 10 years, Judith arrived here with her family in 2015. A lifelong enthusiast for historic buildings, her career has been spent in museums and heritage. Judith brings this experience to her role on the committee, and also looks after the website.

Kirsty Barclay

Kirsty has lived in Elie since the age of 3 (except for a short stint living on the Isle of Mull) and is now raising her own children in the village, with one still at Elie primary school. Kirsty has a health and social care background but now works in the tourist industry and is also a member of Elie & Earlsferry Community Council. She is passionate about the village and making it a happy place for children to live, since they are our future.
