The Strowgers lived at the Schoolhouse. Emilia was the schoolmistress and her husband was a master printer.

Charles Cowper Strowger was born 10 July 1875 at Wigan. Emilia nee Burton was born 30 March 1879 at Devizes.  They married at Wigan on 25 February 1911.

Emilia's father Charles Burton was in the army and until his retirement each of Emilia's siblings was born in a different place, starting with the East Indies for the eldest, then Emilia in Devizes, then Woolwich, Ireland, Jersey and Chapel en le Frith.  There were at least two more born once Charles Burton was in receipt of his army pension and living in Wigan in about 1897.
