Hi DUGs,
Briarlands Farm
Our performance at Briarlands Farm went very well. I received a nice email from the Gargunnock WI thanking us and saying how much they enjoyed the evening.
I would like to thank all those who were able to attend. Twelve of us performed, including bass, harmonica, and cajon. I managed to video some of the evening, I think you'll agree, we were pretty good!
Open Mic
I mentioned a couple of weeks ago that I would like to bring back regular open mic spots to our Wednesday meetings.
Alison Irvine has kindly offered to have a go this week.
Open mic is a great way to boost your confidence. It doesn't have to be a virtuoso performance (you've seen my offerings!).
This can be a solo effort, or a small group. It could be a new song you've been working on, or just your version of one of the songs in our song book.
I have a few things up my sleeve, but I'm sure you don 't want me every week! So, come and have a go!
Instrument Display Racks
Alison Irvine's husband, John has been crafting an instrument display rack prototype. Made from port barrels.
He is willing to let the prototypes go for only £20 before he starts making them for Xmas market, where they will be sold for £35...instruments are not included in price though! Here's a photo...

If you are interested, speak to Alison.
Playlist
We are having a bit of Beatlemania this week!
Sarah (Ukulele Saz) has recently added Can't Buy Me Love to her YouTube Channel.
It's a great song, and easy to play (though, maybe a bit fast).
Released in 1964, Can't Buy Me Love was the first record I ever bought. I was eight-years-old (yes, I really am that old!).
The version we will be playing is loosely based on Sarah's tutorial:
As always, it is worth listening to the original song to get a feel for how we should play it.
We already have a few Beatles songs in our repertoire, so this seems like a good time to play them through.
We will also have another look at House of the Rising Sun. We played around with some strumming patterns and the arpeggio last week and it sounded great.
Love Me Do
Eight Days a Week
Can't Buy Me Love
House of the Rising Sun
Octopus’s Garden
I Will
Let It Be
As you can see, it's a fairly short playlist, leaving us plenty of time to play some of your favourites.
After so many weeks of quite intense practice/rehearsals, we found this a nice change last week.
