Hi DUGs,
We have a handful of events coming up over the next two or three months.
I know not everyone can get along to all of these, but please give your support, if you can.
Some important information about these events in this week's newsletter.
Please take a minute or two to read it through.
BraveUke Festival - May 2nd - 4th
The schedule for the weekend has now been published.
There will be performances and workshops throughout the weekend.

Friday Night - From 7.15pm.

*Yes, you read that right!

We will need to get some rehearsal time in.
The full schedule for the weekend can be found on the Festival website:

Braveuke is a Ukulele Festival to be held in the heart of Scotland with the aim of raising funds for local and national cancer charities. With donating in mind, all guests attending the festival are invited to bring along an item of tinned or packaged food to be donated to StartUp Stirling (this is of course, optional, not a condition of entry).

Ukulele Lessons - Doune Library
Saturday mornings, 8th, 15 & 22nd March, 10.00 - 12.00
I will be running a block of Ukulele Lessons aimed at complete beginners in Doune Library. If you know anyone who might be interested, ask them to contact Alison at the library dounelibrary@stirling.gov.uk
Places are limited, due to space in the library, so booking is essential.
Ukulele Workshop - 23rd April
Unfortunately, due to other commitments, Sarah will not be with us in March.
Our next workshop will be on Wednesday, 23rd April.
As we will have a couple of performances coming up, not least, BraveUke, the session will almost certainly focus on those.
Doune Talent Night - Rural Hall, 26th of April, 5.30 to 8:30pm
We have been asked to take part in this fund-raising event for the Doune and Deanston Youth Project.
As well as supporting a valuable local project, this will be a good showcase for the group.
More details on performance time, etc. to follow.
Town Break Dementia Support – 30th April, 2-4pm
North Parish Church, Stirling.
News of our performances for Dementia Groups is spreading.
Music can be a powerful tool for dementia patients, helping to improve mood, cognitive function, and quality of life.
These performances are also a very enjoyable experience for our members.
Town Trust, Callander – Coffee Morning, 17th May, Callander Kirk,
In support of Mental Health Awareness Week
I expect the format to be similar to the Dementia group performances.
More details, nearer the time.
Gargunnock WI - Tuesday 20 May, 8.00pm
Briarlands Farm, Blair Drummond
Members of the WI were at our performance at Briarlands last year, and were so impressed, they have asked us to perform at their AGM at the same venue.
Made in Dagenham - McLaren High School, 19th to 22nd March.
I know what you're thinking... what has Joe signed us up for now!?
Don't panic, this is NOT a Doune Ukulele event!
But there are some DUG connections.
Our member, John Gallagher, and Marc's wife, Lorna are in the cast.
John has asked me to share the poster with you.
We've been to a couple of CAOS performances, and they have been superb!
Don't forget, information on all upcoming events can be found on the DUG Website:

Playlist
I've had a couple of volunteers to choose our playlists (thank you, Fiona and Alex).
If you fancy having a go, just let me know.
This week, however, you're stuck with my choices again!
Jackie and I have been down in Lancashire all week for a family wedding, so my time has been limited.
I have picked a selection of some of our most recent new songs.
Some of these have been a bit tricky, so going over them can only be for the good.
The second half will, as always, be chosen on the night. Have a favourite of two ready!

Doune Ukulele Group play a wide range of songs, from George Formby to George Ezra. At our meetings, we use a digital projector to display lyrics and chords to play along with.
