Hi DUGs,
Busy! Busy! Busy!
Next week will probably be the most important of the year for the Doune Ukulele Group. With two major performances over the next two weekends, and a Dementia Group performance midweek.
We have worked very hard as a group to prepare for all this, and I am confident we are ready.
Can I just ask one thing of all those of you who are participating in these events...
ENJOY YOURSELF!!!
We want to do the best we can, and we always aim to improve, of course. But let's not lose track of why we are here. Enjoy yourself!
Doune Music Night - Saturday 26 April
5.30 - 8.30 pm
Please Note the event has been moved to Doune Primary School, due to demand for tickets.
There should be 14 of us on stage for Saturday's performance.
About half of those are also playing at BraveUke the following Friday.
The BraveUke players have been meeting for rehearsals at 6.30 for a couple of weeks. This week, I have invited the Music Night players to join us.
I think the extra practice will benefit us greatly.
I realise, not everybody will be able to get to the 6.30 start, so no pressure, but if you can, please join us.
Town Break Dementia - Wednesday 30 April 2025
2.00 - 4.00 pm
Lesley from Town Break sent me this message:
The usual schedule is play 2 to 2.35pm, then we have afternoon tea and back through to the hall for the second half at 3.15 / 3.20 to 4pm. The second half is usually when people like to get up and dance, although we do encourage it throughout the afternoon. 😊 Hope the schedule will be ok with you and the band.
Basically - two sets!
So, if we can get there for a 2pm start. The address is:
North Parish Church, 70 Springfield Road, Stirling, FK7 7QW.
BraveUke - Friday-Sunday, 2-4 May
There will be 12 of us on stage for the Friday evening performance.
We will also have Sarah (Ukulele Saz) on cajon, and her bass player, as well as a couple of her group members to help out.
There will be microphones/amplification. We will use our own music stands (this means we can have our DUG banners on display).
Andy Thompson has asked us to try and get there as early as possible .
He will be there from about 16.15 in the afternoon to set out the hall, registration starts at 17.00.
Andy Webster will be starting the entertainment from 19.00 /19.15.
We are the next act on after Andy. Times haven't been finalised yet, but he will probably do about 30 minutes to welcome people, play a few songs, etc.
So, I expect we will be starting between 19.30 and 19.45.
As you know, we will have 20-25 minutes, including getting on and off stage. Our setlist will be spot on.
I'll let you know more when I get final confirmation.
Check out the BraveUke website for more details of the weekend:
