Hi DUGs,

Welcome to this week’s DUGs newsletter! There’s plenty to look forward to, from a spooky special and a lively playlist to upcoming community events. Read on for the latest news—and we hope to see you strumming along with us soon.

Halloween 🎃🧛‍♂️🧟👻

Halloween is fast approaching, and next week’s gathering will be a Spookulele Special!
We’ll get into the spirit with a Halloween-themed playlist, so bring your ukulele and get ready for some frightfully good tunes.
We’d also love to hear a couple of spooky open-mic performances—if you have something up your sleeve, please come ready to share it.
Fancy dress is completely optional but warmly encouraged. It’s always great fun to see everyone’s creativity, so join in if you’d like to!

Annual General Meeting

The Doune Ukulele Group AGM will be held on Wednesday, 11th November.
If there’s anything you’d like us to discuss, please send it over for the agenda. Every idea is welcome, and your input helps keep DUGs the friendly, enjoyable group we all value—thank you!

This Week’s Playlist

A big thank-you to Greg McKee for putting together this week’s playlist—it’s a brilliant selection, and we’re sure you’ll agree.
I’ve added Living La Vida Loca for one more practice before Halloween.
A couple of weeks ago, Tom, Alex, Dave, and John Mc performed Dr Hook’s If Not You, so that’s also making a welcome return to this week’s list.

Teith Fest | Friday–Sunday, 13th–15th November

A brand-new celebration is coming to Doune, promising a wonderful weekend of music and community spirit.
Teith Fest, sponsored by Doune Gala Committee and supported by Stirling Pride, aims to bring renowned music acts to the village.
Please help spread the word. If you know someone who might enjoy the session, share the details with them; full information is available on the Teith Fest ticket page.
We’d love as many members as possible to join us. It’s a welcoming chance for newcomers to try the ukulele, play alongside the group, and experience what makes DUGs such fun. It could be a great recruiting opportunity too!

Stirling School of English—St Andrew’s Day Ceilidh

Date and time: Monday 23 November, 6.00 pm
Venue: Albert Halls, Dumbarton Road, Stirling, FK8 2QL
Get ready for a festive evening together! Stirling School of English is hosting a St Andrew’s Day ceilidh at the Albert Halls, and we’re delighted to be part of it.
We’ve been invited to play a lively 10–15-minute set during the break. Once the ukuleles are packed away, we can join the dancing and tuck into some stovies!
The organisers need numbers for catering, so please let us know if you’re planning to come—we’d love to have you there.
We expect to perform at around 7.00 pm. If you can’t stay for the full evening, no problem—you’re very welcome to come along just for our set.
Look out for a WhatsApp poll nearer the event, and please respond there if you can make it.
One important date reminder: although St Andrew’s Day falls on Monday 30 November, the ceilidh is one week earlier, on Monday 23 November.
