Hi DUGs,
BraveUke Practice 6.30 - 7.30
Ten of us met for the early BraveUke practice last week.
We made a good start, working through the proposed setlist. However, it was clear that half an hour did not give us enough time to work through the full set, particularly as, at this early stage, when we have to spend time on each song to work out the best way to perform them.
We decided, therefore, to meet at 6.30 for the next few weeks, to allow time to work through all our songs.
I realise that not all of us will be able to make the earlier time every week. But, if enough of us can make it, it will be worthwhile. If 6.30 is too early, just get there when you can.
Upcoming Events
As well as BraveUke, we have a couple more events coming up.
Full details are on our website - Events Calendar
Town Break Dementia, Wednesday, 1st April
On Wednesday afternoon, 1st April, we will be at the Town Break Dementia Group for their Easter Tea Dance. Up to now, we have about half a dozen of us attending. This will be fine, but one or two more would be nice, if you can make it.
When we performed for them last year, it was one of the best ever. A very friendly bunch, and there was tea and cakes!
Doune Music Night Saturday, 16th May
Following the massive success of last year's Doune Music Night, the organisers are planning another event in May this year. This was another great event for us, playing to a packed hall, with the audience clapping and singing along. I'll get more details to you nearer the event, but please put the date in your diary.
Playlist
We're going to start of with a recap of the two songs from Sarah's Workshop - Whistle for the Choir
and Sweet Child O' Mine. Following last weeks discussions, for the Em-Ebm-Dm chord sequence, we are reverting back to the original chord shapes, as we felt they were easier.
Notes and links from the workshop are on the website - Whistle for the Choir
John McPherson sent me another YouTube link to a lovely version of Teach Your Children.
It is performed by two Country Music singer, Suzy Bogguss and Kathy Mattea. If you get a minute, give it a listen. Their rendition of the two-part lyrics (the red lyrics) is so nice.
