Hi DUGs,

BraveUke 2026

Not surprisingly, BraveUke 2026 tickets were sold out in just a few hours.
I managed to successfully make a block booking at 9am on Monday!
15 DUG members have their tickets. Something to look forward to next May, and our performance on the Saturday night will be something to work towards.
The line-up for the weekend looks fantastic:
Schedule BraveUke 2026 will run from Friday 1st May until Sunday the 3rd May 2026. Please see below for our PROVISIONAL schedule.

Playlist

Thankfully, this week's Playlist has not been chosen by me!
This will give everyone a little break, and it makes my life easier, as it's one less thing for me to think about.
So, thanks, Fiona, for putting this together.

Fiona also gave me a couple of possible new songs for us to have a go at.
They are very different, but both so good, I'm going to run with both!

I'll Tell Me Ma is a traditional children's song. It was collected in various parts of the United Kingdom in the 19th century.
"The song accompanies a children's game. A ring is formed by the children joining hands, one player standing in the centre. When asked, "Please tell me who they be," the girl in the middle gives the name or initials of a boy in the ring (or vice versa). The ring then sings the rest of the words, and the boy who was named goes into the centre" - Wikipedia

I'll tell me ma, when I get home The boys won't leave the girls alone Pulled me hair, and stole my comb But that's alright, till I go home. Chorus: She is handsome, she is pretty She is the belle of Belfast city She is a-courting one, two, three Pray, can you tell me who is she?

It is very popular with ukulele groups, and is one of the first songs I learned to play. I am sure it will become a favourite of ours in no time.

It's Raining Again, by Supertramp, might be unfamiliar to many of you.
It is not one of their better-known songs, but it lovely, and easy to play and sing.
Supertramp are a favourite band of mine. Sadly, Rick Davies, the keyboard player, passed away earlier this month, so playing one of their songs seems like a nice tribute.

If you get a chance, please give it a listen:

DUG Song Sheets

Now that we are no longer using printed song sheets at our meetings, all new songs will be put on the website, rather than attached to these emails. If you want to practice any of our songs, you can view/download all our songs here: Our Songs
