Hi DUGs,
In view of what's going on in the World Cup, I think we will have a wee Scottish flavour to part of our playlist tonight.
I'm also going to have a look at Mamma Mia. After we played it last week it was pointed out to me that some of the chords weren't right (and some were missing).
So, I've had a look and made some major revisions. It does involve a couple of tricky new chords (probably why I missed them out in the first place 😉)
We first introduced Mamma Mia back in May, 2022. As a group, we have come a long way in four years. We are much more adventurous (well, some of us are!), and more willing to have a go at some of the more difficult chords.
F sharp minor actually isn't bad at all. It's just the G7 shape, moved over (or, A shape with the addition of the third finger)
B minor is quite familiar to us now, particularly the easier alternative. We already play it in a couple of songs.
D augmented... well, good luck with that one! Especially where it swaps back and forth from D!
I haven't updated the song sheet on the website yet. I'll wait to see how we go on this week first.
Bohemian Like You
Dave Bright has suggested a new song, Bohemian Like You, by the Dandy Warhols.
This is a song that Dave, Shona, Pauline, and John play regularly at the Southside Strummers with Ukulele Saz. By way of introducing the song to the group, they performed it for us last Wednesday.
Sarah has a tutorial for the song on her YouTube channel.
Always worth a visit:

We're going to have another little look at One Day Like This. But not spend all night on it...honest!
Mamma Mia, I've talked about. We tried to play How Come last week, but the PowerPoint slides weren't right (all the right slides, not necessarily in the right order!). So, we'll have another go this week.

Doune Gala 2026
I've had too much on lately to commit the group to taking part in this year's Gala. So, this is just a reminder. Full details can be found on the Doune and Deanston website: Doune Gala
Friday evening will be a ceilidh with the excellent Skelpit Lug band, and a licenced bar. Jackie and I will be there. If you'd like to join us, tickets are £10 from Doune Library, or ring Alison on 07810 628512.
Randolph Hill Care Home
Sunday 21 June, 14:30 to 16:00
I think there will be four of us performing. Space is limited, but if one or two more of you would like to join us, just give me a shout.
From the big roundabout, take the Perth Road out of Dunblane (B8033). Randolph Hill Care Home is nearly half a mile, up on the right.
