Hi DUGs,
Workshop
Last week's meeting was a lot of fun. Sarah really puts some energy into these workshops.
She has left me with a list of notes for our 'homework'.
We will all become 12-bar blues experts!
Dementia Group Performance
Seven members played at the Bowling Club on Thursday. It's amazing what a difference those three or four more players/voices make to the performance.
The Dementia Group seemed to enjoy the afternoon. There was plenty of singing along, and even some dancing.

BraveUke
Planning seems to be well under way for the BraveUke Ukulele Festival at the beginning of May.
As well as the performances on Friday and Saturday nights, there will be open-mic sessions, mass-strums, and the opportunity for ukulele groups to perform.
There will also be workshops running across the weekend (Sarah will be running a couple of them).
Places are nearly sold out, so if you want to attend, I suggest you get yours booked soon.
Tickets can be purchased online:

Braveuke 2025, from Friday 2nd May to Sunday 4th May at Victoria Hall, Dunblane. For workshops there may be an additional fee.

As there will be the chance for a group performance, those of us who will be attending could do to get together and decide what songs we want to play, and arrange some practice time.
Warm-ups
As you know Sarah (Ukulele Saz) has a YouTube channel with lots of good tips on practicing.
She recently posted one about the importance of warming up before you start to play your uke.
It's well worth a look at:

She has just posted another this week, about warming-up for a group:

Sarah says, "Warm Ups are super important and a great way to ease you in to your jam, get your mind and body in the zone and prepped for the session ahead!"
So, this week, we are going to try and put this into practice.
It should only take about five minutes to complete before we start our playlist.
Love is in the air!
Valentines Day next week - Let's mark it with some love songs ❤️
We will also recap on some of the 12-bar blues from last week.
In the second half, we'll just choose from our songbook.
It would be helpful if you could choose a song or two in advance.
I've attached a full list of all our songs.
