Hi Dugs,
We had two performances last week.
Three members played at the Doune Dementia Group's Christmas Party.
Who knew Santa was one of our members? (Just to be clear, I'm not claiming to be the real thing... but you'll never see me and Santa together in the same room!)
In spite of the low number, I think we did a pretty good job.
A very poor weather forecast forced the Doune Christmas Fayre to be relocated to the Rural Hall.
While this was disappointing for the Fayre Committee and the traders on Main Street and The Cross, moving into the Hall suited us.
The Rural Hall was very, very busy, with a lot of background noise. But having nine of us playing meant we were heard by everyone who took the time out from the festivities to listen and sing along. Having our new drummer, Duncan, join us made a big difference as, while we struggled to hear each other at times, the strong, steady drumbeat kept us all together.
Notice that, even though I convinced Amy and Pauline to stand at the front of the group, they managed to hide behind the music stands. I'll be watching for this on Wednesday! 😉
(To be fair, we didn't have much time to set up after the pipers had finished their set)
Christmas Open Night
Our final performance of the year is upon us!
This is the main event we have been practicing for and I'm looking forward to a brilliant night.
I have booked the Rural Hall from 6.00, to allow time to set up for the evening. If anyone can get there early to help; I would be immensely grateful.
Otherwise, please try to arrive by 7.00 be on stage for a 7.30 start.
Can I ask that we wear our DUG T-shirts/Hoodies. The addition of Christmas hats/ lights/ tinsel/ etc., could give us a festive vibe.
We have had some offers of cakes, biscuits, and drinks from a few members.
Ken will be providing his popular mulled wine as in previous years (alcoholic and non-alcoholic).
Please feel free to contribute, if you can.
