Hi DUGs,

Well, Halloween was a bit of a nightmare! I bet you will all be glad to get onto Christmas songs 😉

One positive was James' open mic. His version of Robbie Williams' 'Let Me Entertain You' was superb. Brilliantly written and very well performed. I can't wait to get us all playing this together

Events Calendar
We only have five more meetings before our first Christmas performances, so we will need to concentrate on rehearsing for them.
I have attached the poster for our Christmas Open Night. If you know of anywhere this could be displayed, please print it off (if you don't have access to printing, give me a shout and I'll run some off).

Workshop
This Wednesday will see our third visit from Sarah.
Obviously, we will be going through 'Rockin' All Over The World''Shotgun''I'm A Believer', and 'I Wish It Could Be Christmas'. I would like to include all three of these in our Christmas setlist. Sarah is going to help us get these to performance level.
She will also be looking at 'Stop the Cavalry' with us.

So, our main focuses for our workshop session will be:
  1. Rhythm
    • rhythm patterns - practising these over and over
    • slowly, building them up to speed as a group
    • repetition, doing them over and over

  2. Keeping the beat
    • Tuning in to the beat of a drum the full time, and having everyone connect to that
    • Start/Stopping - working on these and tuning in to counts to keep everyone right

  3. Energy!
    • Standing up
    • Smiling and eye contact
    • General performance skills
Sarah aims to get all this engrained during the first half, using 'I Wish It Could Be Christmas' and 'Stop The Cavalry'.
During the second half we can have a rehearsal, ensuring we focus on these things.

DUG Song Sheets
Now that we are no longer using printed song sheets at our meetings, all new songs will be put on the website, rather than attached to these emails. If you want to practice any of our songs, you can view/download all our songs here: Our Songs
