On Tuesday 3rd March Anne Brown gave us an insight into the case of Elizabeth Martha Brown who was tried for the murder of her second husband John Brown in 1856. She was the last woman to be executed in public in Dorset. Elizabeth claimed John had died after being kicked by a horse, but she was convicted of his murder and did confess to killing him after he had whipped and abused her. Thank you Anne.

Many thanks to Valynne and Elspeth for organising the light refreshments. Thanks also for the raffle prizes kindly donated.

Our next meeting will be on Tuesday 7th April. This will be our (short) AGM followed by a talk entitled ‘Doctors Practising in Cranborne 1800 to 1940, a brief look at Medical History’ presented by our very own Dorothy.

We look forward to seeing you then.
