MIKE STEVENS
Mike Stevens
Mike was a long time member, and a long serving Committee member of C & DRC. He shot with us for many years.
Mike was a successful shooter, and his name appears on many of our trophies.
Mike lived in Banstead, and sadly passed away after a short illness in May 2018.
He was survived by his family, and his widow Doreen.
Many of our members attended his funeral, and Mike ashes were later scattered around the clocktower at Bisley.

TONY MCCORMICK
Tony McCormick
Tony was a member of C & DRC for a number of years up until his death in 2019.
Born in 1938, in Birkenhead, he was a true scouser, a larger than life character, and loved by all.
Often known as 'Mac' to his friends.
Howard Elliott donated an engraved silver plate, as a trophy, in Tony's memory, entitled The Tony Mac Plate. This was shot for, for the first time in 2021, at 1000 yards.
In his younger days, he spent many years at sea, which was where his heart lay. Indeed, following his cremation, his last request was that his ashes was scattered at sea, and this was done by the Lifeboatmen at Eastbourne.
Tony lived in Streatham, and was survived by his widow, Lina.
Upon his death, Tony donated his rifle to the club, for the benefit of the members.
After a short illness, Tony passed away in April 2019.

DOUG RAY
Douglas (Doug) Ray
An early Committee Member and Treasurer of the Club for many years. (See some of the AGM Lists from the '60s)
David Haywood had the pleasure of assisting Doug Ray and Barry Dewar for many years, training Scouts for their shooting Badge at the Marlpit Lane Drill Hall in Old Coulsdon (where the Club used to shoot - until it was closed due to asbestos being located.) This was after the closure of our own indoor Range at Chipstead (behind Barnard's Garage ) - vacated and demolished as it was on leased land.
Doug Ray lived in Chipstead (near the White Hart Pub) He used to enter the RAC Rally and was a keen driver for his earlier years. He was Chairman of the Family firm of Builder's Merchants M.A.RAY & Sons, based in both Coulsdon and Kent. David Haywoods Family used to deal frequently with his firm when we were starting our own engineering company in Coulsdon, Thomas Haywood & Sons Ltd. 1930's - 1968.
Doug Ray as Treasurer and Noel Brack as Chairman both guided the Club through some tricky times, and in those days we had the backing of Vice Presidents (mainly from Chipstead) and everyone referred to each other by their surname.
Doug loved his small-bore and full-bore shooting, and he also used to pop into the posh car showrooms on the way to Bisley in his shooting (very old and torn) clothes, - he said he was left alone to browse.
He suffered from a damaged shoulder in later years (caused when he crashed into an open door at night in the dark - lights off to save money)
When Doug passed away, David Haywood was called to his lovely house by his daughter, to remove small shooting items from his locker (some rifles having been removed and destroyed by the Police). Apart from cleaning kit, gloves etc., I remember the yellow sponge which he brought to Bisley on the end of his worn out gun slip, to cover the hole ! His daughter had to sort out the five cars in his garages !
I believe one of his rifles was obtained by the Club. It had a barrel sleeve - and we know that Doug had run over this rifle at least once during his possession.!

Norman Stratton
Norman Stratton, brother of James Stratton, both long serving Chipstead members.
Norman was a successful smallbore, and full bore shooter.

RICHARD GORING
Richard Goring
Richard Goring, or better known as 'Dick' to his friends and fellow shooters.
Dick had a fair amount of success in our Bisley shoots, and his name can be seen on a number of out trophies.

NOEL BRACK
Noel Brack
A former long standing member of Chipstead DRC, and previously Committee member, and former Chairman of the club.
Due to sight problems, Noel had to change eyes, and shoot with his left, not exactly to his detriment, as he still managed to out shoot many of the other members.!

IAN FLASHMAN
Ian Flashman
Ian was another regular at the Chipstead DRC shoots. Him and his wife Monica, and were also members of Surbiton Postal Rifle Club, where many of Chipsteads members hail from.
Apart from his shooting, Ian had many interests, including motorbikes, boats, and military vehicles.
Ian and Monica retired, and moved down to Goring on the south coast.

MARK JARMAN
Mark Jarman
Mark was a Chipstead member, and for a period of time a serving Committee Member. Brother of another of our members, Simon Jarman. Mark is also one of our Honorary Members.

PETER SKINNER
Peter Skinner
Peter Skinner was a long time member of CDRC.
Peter lived in Tolworth, and his career was with Racal Decca.
We shoot annually in Peters memory, for the Peter Skinner Trophy.
