Visit to Broughton Castle
Thursday 27 July 2017
09:15 to 18:30
Broughton Castle is a moated medieval manor house of 14th century, enlarged in the 16th, and home of the Fiennes family, Lords Saye and Sele. Many medieval rooms survive, including the chapel and a whole suite of remarkably intact Elizabethan interiors. James I slept in the King's' chamber, but the castle escaped damage in the Civil War.
Features: Gardens around the broad and tranquil moat.
There is much to see in this wonderful old building and Members will not be disappointed. There will be tea/coffee on arrival and a private Tour. There will be time for tea and cakes before we leave.
