Community Governance Review
Petition to Swindon Borough Council requesting a Community Governance Review
We, the undersigned residents of the Badbury Park (Coate) development, formally request that Swindon Borough Council undertakes a Community Governance Review under the Local Government and Public Involvement in Health Act 2007.
Badbury Park is a single, coherent residential community that was developed across historic parish boundaries. As a result, the development is currently divided between two parish councils. This has led to inconsistency in representation, confusion over local responsibilities, and differences in parish precepts for residents living on the same estate.
We believe that the current parish boundary arrangements do not reflect the established community identity of Badbury Park and do not provide effective or convenient local governance for residents.
The purpose of this petition is to request that Swindon Borough Council reviews the existing parish boundaries affecting Badbury Park and considers options to:
- Place the entire Badbury Park development within a single parish council area; and/or
- Amend parish boundaries to better reflect the community identity and ensure fair, effective and consistent local governance.
We asking resident whether they wanted a referendum as part of this review and considers the most appropriate long-term governance arrangements for the Badbury Park community.
Please support this petition.
