Parking on the Estate

We understand residents’ increasing concerns about hospital visitors and staff parking on the estate, particularly around Berryfield. This issue has been raised several times recently, and the Working Group fully recognises residents’ frustration.

Some of the estate roads have now been adopted by the Council (this does notinclude the section from the Co-Op on Homington Avenue through to Berryfield). Where roads have been adopted, they form part of the public highway. As a result, provided vehicles are parked legally and are not causing an obstruction, members of the public are entitled to park there, including hospital visitors and staff.

The Working Group has recently discussed this matter with our Ward Councillor, who has advised that options such as resident-only parking, permit schemes, or restricted parking times (for example, 9am–2pm) can only be introduced by the developer until Homington Avenue is adopted by the Council. There is also a possibility that the Council may not adopt the side roads.

At this stage, implementing permit parking across the estate would therefore be challenging and may not be supported, but the issue remains under active review. The Working Group will continue to engage with our Ward Councillors, Council officers, and our MP, Heidi Alexander, and will provide updates on our website should any realistic options become available.

Thank you Sam for raising these concerns and your feedback helps us to ensure these issues are properly represented on behalf of Badbury Park Residents.
