Richard Henry Leary

Army No. 203116.  North Staffordshire Regiment 1st/16th

Born - 1891.  Enlisted - 15th February 1916.

Bagthorpe Military Hospital: 21st January 1917 to 1st May 1917, German Measles.

Military Hospital: 9th August 1918 to 14th March 1919, Wounded in Action. Discharged from Lichfield, unfit for service.

Died - 29th July 1920, Aged 29.

Awards:  Silver War Badge.

 

George Saul.

Army No. 1028.  Rank: Lance Corporal.  10th Battalion, Lincolnshire Regiment.

Born:  1895.  Baptised: 27th May 1895.

Joined up: 23rd October 1914 ( Pension Record Attestation).

Reported Sick: 5th February 1915

Discharged: 13th April 1915, no longer fit for service (Bright's Disease).

Died: 3rd June 1918 at Leverton, aged 24.

 

John George Simpson.

Army No.  2487335.  Rank:  Sapper  Canadian Railway Troop, Depot.

Born: 1899.

Died: 21st November 1918 Aged 19.  Cause unknown.

 

Charles Walker.

Army No. 242576.  Rank: Private  West Yorkshire Regiment (Prince of Wales Own)

Born - September 1890.  Donned uniform: March 1916. Called to Service - April 1916.

Returned to U.K.:  24th January 1918.  Discharged:  9th May 1918, unfit for service ( diabetes due to service conditions).

Died 27th August 1918, Aged 27.

Awards: Silver War Badge, British War Medal, Victory Medal.

 

Samuel Walker.

Army No. 15380.  Rank: Rifleman  Rifle Brigade (Prince Consort's Own)

Born - 1890.  Enlisted - 1916

Wounded in action - July 1916.  Returned to France - November 1916.

Posted Missing - January 1918.

Believed to have died 30th October 1917 during an attack by German forces 21st October 1917 - Aged 28.

Not Buried in Wrangle, Commemorated at St. Souplet Cemetery, France (Cambrai area).

Awards: British War Medal, Victory Medal (Collected by Father).

 

Walter Walker. D.C.M.

Army No: G/95333.  Rank: Lance Corporal.  Royal Fusiliers.  (Posted to 2nd Battalion, London Regiment.)

Born: 1895.  Baptised: 24th 1901.

Joined Army - April 1916, France August 1916.

March 1918 - Awarded Distinguished Conduct Medal for conspicuous bravery as a stretcher bearer bringing in wounded while under heavy shell and rifle fire in action during 1916.

Died:  9th November 1918, from from wounds received.

World War 2.

Cyril Harness.

Home Guard Volunteer.  1st Holland Battalion.

Born:  24th March 1920.  Died:  18th August 1944, aged 21.

Injured 17th August 1944, accident during Hand Grenade practice at Fishtoft. (premature explosion due to fuse fault).

 

Benjamin Frank Barber.

Born: January 1917. 

Royal Navy No:  P/KX93591.  Leading Stoker, HMS Ark Royal, Sunk during action in the Mediteranean Sea.

 

Jack Robinson.
