West Lancashire Footpath Group

This is a 5.2 mile walk, in association with the Canal and River Trust, taking in some newly-cleared. previously inaccessible footpaths and two sections of the Leeds Liverpool Canal. Parking and starting at the Scarisbrick Arms, Black-A-Moor Lane, Downholland Cross, Ormskirk, L39 7HX.  SD364068, ///fold.turned.toasters.  Please use the rear car park.

We normally say just turn up but on this occasion, it would be very helpful if you could let us know in advance if you are planning to walk with us so that we can accommodate some walkers from the Canal and River Trust.  Email us on westlancashirefootpathgroup@gmail.com or mention it to a committee member. 

Please also note that on a recent recce, we encountered a loose dog on a farm and livestock in fields we had to cross.  For these reasons, we do not feel this is a suitable walk for dogs.

There are also a couple of high stiles and some overgrown sections.

Please wear sturdy shoes/boots and avoid shorts/short sleeves.  If you have walking poles, you may like to bring them along.

Finally, please arrive by 12.50pm so we can set off at 1pm sharp: we should just about get back before it goes dark.
