The Polytunnel is a large plastic covered “greenhouse” situated near the communal sheds. It is only to be used by those people who have rented a space in it.
Each paying tenant has a given area in which to grow crops that need or benefit from warmer and calmer conditions.
The Polytunnel roof harvests rainwater into 36 (currently) blue barrels situated around it.
These barrels are reserved for the use of Polytunnel tenants ONLY.
If using these barrels please remember to put the lids back on when you have finished taking your water. We want to reduce any losses through evaporation.
Do NOT attempt to take any water from the barrels that are connected to the downpipes. This can endanger our water supply system.
It is expected that Polytunnel tenants should only take water for their immediate watering needs and NOT fill large containers from these barrels, this being an unfair and selfish practice which would put everybody’s water supply at risk.
Tenants are advised to bring water from home should our system run dry.
Please do not allow any items in your designated area to come into contact with the fabric of the roof. We have had tears in the past due to the over-enthusiastic use of bamboo canes and the like.
Please clear your space in the Polytunnel at the end of the season
If you have been a Polytunnel tenant you are expected to help with the annual clean wherever possible.
Dogs are not allowed in the Polytunnel. No smoking/vaping rules also apply here.
