Wickham Bishops Horticultural Club

Our Christmas Social event will be held on Thursday 11^th December, from 7:30 pm onwards in the Church Hall.  All members are welcome to attend at no cost, and friends of members are also welcome for whom we would request £5 per person to help to cover our expenses.

There will be free mulled wine and mince pies, but you are encouraged to bring your own additional nibbles and drinks if you wish.  There will not be any other ‘club’ wine, and there is no need to bring crockery or glasses.  It would be good if you could bring a small table decoration and wear something either festive or on a horse-racing theme.

The format will be very similar to last year, though with much better-quality videos and commentaries.  There will be five or six races, with eight runners and riders in each.  Bets will be £1 and you may place a bet on any horse or horses in each race.  Once all the bets for that race are ‘in’, 30% will be retained towards the cost of running the evening (the club is subsidising this quite heavily), and the remainder will be distributed between the holders of winning tickets, rounded to the nearest pound.  There will be the ‘losers raffle’ where the holders of non-winning tickets write their names on the back and place them in a bucket to be drawn at the end of the evening.

Things that you need to bring: any additional food or drink that you wish, a pen or pencil to write your name on the tickets, and, most importantly, plenty of cash in £1 coins if at all possible as the tote cannot cope if everyone offers notes.
