Pickings from the Garden - Talk and Practical Session

Thursday 21 September 2017
19:30 to 21:40

Bring your flowers and foliage from the garden for an interactive evening on 21st Sept.

What are the best flowers for picking and displaying in the house? How to make the most of them? David Thomson will be giving a talk and then demonstrate arranging and displaying flowers and foliage from the garden. We will then all have a go. So please bring with you some flowers, foliage and a vase to make your own arrangement (preferably in couples), there will be a prize for the best arrangement! We will provide scissors and water and there will be some oasis to buy if you need some.

David Thomson is a NAFAS National Demonstrator who teaches and demonstrates all over the UK and abroad. He has also taken on many commercial commissions including the Jewel House at the Tower of London, Kensington Palace and St Paul's Cathedral and is also known for his wedding floral artistry. Originally from Glasgow where his interest in flowers came from a after school delivery job in a Glasgow flower shop. He has had a career in the law, however the lure of flowers enticed him to move beyond a hobby as he trained at Southwark College and then Writtle College where he obtained the Society of Floristry ICSF qualification. He lives in Chelmsford. His website is flowersbydavidthomson.co.uk
