The Duke-Hill family bought Terlings Park in 1864.  They were up and coming - I like to think of them a bit like "reality TV stars" of their day.  They bought the old house.....and then knocked it down to build a flash new house!!  No expense spared.  We can see that at the time of the 1871 census they were living down the lane - although it's not clear in which house - whilst their new abode was completed!  When it was finally completed, as was customary at the time, they employed the services of Bedford Lemere to record the house.  You can even see the family sitting under the Cedar Tree!  We believe that this was planted as part of the landscape changes under the Turvin-Hankin Family sometime between 1825 and 1839 and it is still standing proudly in our grounds
