These scenes are from a walk led by Richie the Ranger a well known and much loved figure on Merseyside,
He retired as a Liverpool Parks Ranger several years ago and does nature/heritage walks throughout the area. I had previously walked over Runcorn Hill/Heath to Weston Point village many moons ago when visiting friends in Runcorn but knew little of the history which is well worth researching,
But I digress,as one of the things that fascinated all the men on the walk was this house and it’s attendant railway signs. The Prospect Inn pub next door which has glorious views is thankfully under new management as it looked earmarked for closure at one time. One of the Runcornians(?) on the walk who actually came from Willenhall ( I’m not a Brummie )and still retained his distinctive Black Country accent was in a folk group that hailed from the pub and they called themselves The Prospecters.
So if you find any old surplus railway stuff in the depths of your shed no doubt the occupants of this house would be willing recipients or maybe his missus would say he’s got more than enough thank you !
Anyway chaps stay safe regards
