Plant sale and My journey in horticulture by Samantha Hopes
Tuesday 26 May 2026
18:45 to 21:00
Please note the plant sale will start at 6.45pm. The talk will start at 7.30pm.
Samantha, from Hopes Garden Plants, originally trained as a geologist but quickly found that she was more interested in the plants that grew around the various rock strata than she was in the rocks themselves, and so began studying the plants with a place at Birmingham Botanical Gardens supplemented with evening studies at Pershore College.
She soon combined her two interests and moved on to specialise in Rock and Alpine plants at RHS Wisley with work experience at Kew and Great Dixter.
Following her graduation she gained a place to work with John Massey , tending his Hepatica collection, and in 2016 she went working part time in order to start her family. Now freelance she and her husband have their own garden where they specialise in propagation of unusual plants and give talks to many gardening groups and societies.
This talk will be preceded by our annual plant sale. We hope you will be able to contribute plants for sale and that you will find plants that you wish to buy to add to your collections in your own gardens. All proceeds will go to the Society’s funds.
