What is nature exploration?
At the Little Potting Club we run with a forest school ethos. Whenever we go out into the wider green spaces we explore with a certain planned activity in mind. Such as looking for conkers for example. However we may get side tracked with paddling in the water and exploring rocks or invertebrates. We may even play games or explore nature further.
We often find tree seeds and from this we have grown many trees of different species.
We may find a small stump that we use as stool seat. Or take a ride in the wheel barrow. Hunt for quartz in the stream.
As well as planting trees we also often find a good one to climb.
We shake the branches to encourage the conkers to fall, we splash in the water, we srtip a fallen tree of its bark to add to the bug hotel.
We play with our imagination and often recreate using natural resources such as the branches here being used to create sitting area.
We discover something strange and unsual.
Enjoying family time whilst looking for sticks.
Or we may find something abandoned or left behind.
Or explore off the path, who knows what we will discover.
Or just enjoy obseving nature and its everyday life.
Sometimes we discover something we planted has begun to grow.
We may go out on a trail to find certain clues that lead to certain areas or maybe even treasure!
Overall nature exploration is about being outdoors, exploring nature, experiencing nature contact and having fun with family and friends. We may even, and often do, discover something we have never seen before, such as an unsual plant, fungi or insect. Because everyday is a learning day, even for us adults.
