Kimble and Ellesborough Horticultural Society Spring Show 2022
The Kimble and Ellesborough Horticultural Society Spring Show was held in the Stewart Hall, Little Kimble on Sunday 3rd April. There were 81 exhibits on the benches provided by 11 members. The competition was very close with only a few points separating the winners from the runners-up for many trophies. Sue Towersey won the Spring Challenge Cup, for the most points in the Show, and also won the Masterclass, an exhibit of four items, and the Ray Taylor Cup for sweet preserves There were joint winners of the Wingletang Trophy, for the most points in the bulb classes, Jenny Summerfield and David Ridgway. He also won the Three vase Championship narcissi, Pot Plant Trophy and was awarded the Best Horticultural Exhibit, for a pot plant in his Master Class entry. Mary Redding won the Open Floral Art class and the Petite Floral Art class. The Star of the Show was Kieran Shefford who was awarded the Best in Show Exhibit for his Brownies. We could not give him the usual prize, a bottle of bubbly, as he is not at Senior school yet. We did give him a suitable prize, which he thanked me for after the show. His brother Oliver got the most points in the junior section. A special mention for Dee Powell, a first-time entrant who won the novice three stems’ narcissus class. A large number of visitors viewed the Show during the afternoon, many partaking of the cakes (which sold out) and tea.
Hope to see you all at the Summer Show
