Kingston and Surbiton face a battle with neighbouring borough Epsom to see its two train stations rezoned.

MP for Kingston and Surbiton James Berry has been lobbying in Parliament to change Surbiton and Kingston stations from zone 6 to zone 5, a move that could save commuters £156 a year. But fellow Conservative MP Chris Grayling has started a similar campaign in his constituency, hoping to get the Oyster card into town and move Epsom station into London’s zone 6.

Residents shared their views on the high speed rail network at a public consultation exhibition held at the YMCA in Victoria Road, Surbiton on Friday, November 21.

Commuters are being told to expect “major delays” between Waterloo and Wimbledon throughout the entire day.

The South West Trains services are being taken down by a signalling problem between Wimbledon and Earlsfield, affecting a number of lines into the main London terminus. Lines between Waterloo and Wimbledon were closed, but have since been reopened. However this caused delays of up to 60 minutes throughout rushour.

Initially National Rail said services were expected to return to normal by 10am, but this has now been extended to 4pm.

A signal failure at London Waterloo has caused severe disruption to services across south London, including cancellations and delays of up to 20 minutes on busy commuter lines.

Trains from London Waterloo to Hampton Court will be cancelled in both directions, but the service will resume from the 9.23am train from Hampton Court and 8.36am from London Waterloo.
