A petition against controversial plans to remove bus stops in Twickenham town centre has been submitted to the council. Councillor Jeremy Elloy handed in the petition, bearing more than 1,000 signatures, to Richmond Council at a meeting in York House, Twickenham on Tuesday, November 27.

The petition calls on the authority to reconsider the plans, which petitioners said would inconvenience the disabled, elderly and infirm, who would be forced to walk between stops at the fringes of the town centre.

A disobedient dog caused minor delays when it boarded a train, travelled one stop, disembarked, wandered on to the track and got run over at Richmond.

The mischievous mutt took it upon itself to board the train at Mortlake, without buying a ticket, and got off at North Sheen before wandering on to the track. The train guard then lost sight of the dog, an Alsatian cross, before driving over it, but not harming it, as the service approached Richmond on Friday, November 2.
