Methodists are Christians who believe God loves all unconditionally, with no strings attached.  Methodism is often linked back to an individual called John Wesley but it can be found earlier than this.  It is based on the principles of social justice, care and doing good for all of God's creation.

Methodism has 4 foundational areas of work and at Hatfield Peverel Methodist Church we try to live these out:

  1. Worship- The Church exists to increase awareness of God's presence and to celebrate God's love
  2. Learning and Caring- The Church exists to help people to grow and learn as Christians, through mutual support and care
  3. Service- The Church exists to be a good neighbour to people in need and to challenge injustice
  4. Evangelism- The Church exists to make more followers of Jesus Christ
